Cuisinart Chef’s Classic Nonstick Stainless Steel 12-Piece Cookware Set
by shoprism on Aug.08, 2009, under Kitchen & Dining
Amazon.com Review
This cookware from Cuisinart’s Chef’s Classic series incorporates both the classic good looks of gleaming stainless steel with the ease of an interior nonstick finish. Not just any nonstick, this finish is Quantanium, a high-quality, long-lasting finish internally reinforced with titanium. Little or no oil is needed for cooking on this ultra-smooth surface, and low to medium heat is recommended, along with non-metal utensils. An aluminum core encapsulated in the base conducts heat quickly and evenly without hotspots. All the lids are break-resistant glass, and the handles are also stainless steel, riveted for strength. Every piece is oven-safe to 500 degrees F and dishwasher-safe. This 12-piece set of commonly used pots and pans makes a great starter set for the home chef. The three saucepans, holding 1, 2, and 3 quarts, take care of most boiling, warming, and steaming needs; the 8- and 10-inch skillets turn out perfect eggs, pancakes, and browned sausag (more…)
All-American 30-Quart Pressure Cooker/Canner
by shoprism on Aug.08, 2009, under Kitchen & Dining

The high heat generated by a pressure cooker can kill more bacteria than a regular hot water bath, making this pressure cooker the ideal tool for canning vegetables and non-acid fruit. All-American’s 30-quart pressure cooker/canner holds up to 19 pint jars or 14 quart jars. Only All-American pressure cookers/canners feature an exclusive, precision-machined “metal-to-metal” sealing system. Clamping locks align the cover to the base, forming a steam-tight seal. This means no gaskets to crack, burn, replace, and clean. At the same time, the metal-to-metal seal permits venting under unusual pressure conditions, making the seal safer than conventional rubber or composition gasket cookers. Crafted of the finest hand-cast aluminum, this durable cooker/canner features a stay-cool Bakelite top handle, geared steam gauge, automatic overpressure release, and pressure regulator weight with settings of 5 psi, 10 psi, and 15 psi. The attractive satin finish is smooth and ea (more…)

Amazon.com Review
Elegant and contemporary, the Multiclad Pro line from Cuisinart consists of deluxe cookware for the professional home chef. The exteriors of the 18/10 stainless steel pots and pans feature a handsome brushed finish, while the interiors are mirror-polished for non-reactive, quick release of foods. The tri-ply Heat Surround technology sandwiches an aluminum core in the base and side walls for superior, even heating. You’ll also find solid cast stainless-steel handles that stay cool on the stovetop, tight-fitting stainless-steel lids, and drip-free pouring rims. Each piece is oven-safe to 500 degrees F, and the pans are safe for broiler-use, too. This fabulous set consists of basics and more. The 1-1/2- and 3-quart saucepans with lids take care of everything from oatmeal to béchamel sauce, and the veggie steamer insert with its own lid fits the larger saucepan. Also included are 8- and 10-inch open skillets that turn out perfect grilled cheese, hamburgers, (more…)
All-American 21-1/2-Quart Pressure Cooker/Canner
by shoprism on Aug.08, 2009, under Kitchen & Dining
Amazon.com Review
This heavy-duty pressure cooker’s large capacity is probably best utilized for canning (though it would also be great for a number of cooking tasks). A pressure cooker is generally recommended when canning vegetables and nonacid fruit, since the high heat that can be generated will kill more bacteria than a regular hot water bath. Made from cast aluminum, with sturdy screws to seal the lid to the pot, this pressure cooker requires no rubber or plastic gaskets or rings. Its 21-1/2-quart capacity holds 19 pint jars or 7 quart jars. A three-setting pressure regulator valve is included, and the pressure gauge gives a clear reading. Made in Wisconsin, this is an American classic. –Julija Gelazis

The Romanovs are arguably second only to Jack the Ripper as objects of literary speculation. The story of their last days, their possible escape and the final resting place of the $500 million in jewels hidden in their clothing provides periodic grist for fiction writers. Alexander’s first novel is based on “decades of painstaking research” and access to previously sealed Russian archives. He has produced a detailed version of the Romanovs’ captivity, but the (more…)
